In order to maintain the diversity of people and culture in the archipelago, the City of Kediri held a fashion show titled ‘Diversity Of Dhoho’ where the clothes on display were all made of woven fabric in front of the Kediri City Hall building, Jalan Basuki Rachmat, Saturday 10 December 2022.
The activity, which was spearheaded by the City Government (Pemkot) and the Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) and supported by Bank Indonesia for the City of Kediri, featured famous Indonesian designers Priyo Oktaviano, Wignyo Rahadi, Era Soekamto and local designers and models with disabilities.
Chairperson of Dekranasda Kota Kediri Ferry Silviana Abu Bakar said, apart from maintaining cultural, racial and religious values, this fashion show also aims to increase economic value, especially for IKM actors, especially the wealth of Nusantara literature produced by weavers in Kediri City.
“I want to make it different from fashion week. There are always values that I want to raise from the City of Kediri,”
According to him, promotional efforts through DSF activities were quite successful. Moreover, this activity has brought in Indonesian designers who have taken part at the national and international levels and have had a positive impact.
Meanwhile, a designer who was born and raised in the City of Kediri, Priyo Oktaviano said, through this activity he wanted to provide a good virus for young people to be even more daring to dress with local Kediri woven motifs.
“I’m trying to give an influence to the young people of Kediri City so they dare to dress with local woven motifs that can be ‘mixed and matched’ so that they look casual, fun, young, and modern, which doesn’t leave the repertoire of local culture,” he explained.
The activity which was attended by Deputy Governor of East Java, Emil Dardak, Head of East Java Dekranasda Arumi Bachsin, Dekranasda Kota Blitar and Tulunggagung, Disperindag Province of East Java, and Bakorwil Madiun, is a routine activity held every year since 2015 under the name Dhoho Street Fashion ( DSF). However, due to a pandemic, this activity was stopped in 2021 and was only implemented this year. (Har)
